Impressive Kamakura-3

Why don’t we walk in Kamakura?

This is the street called “Dankazur”, which was constructed at the beginning of Kamakura period. This road leads to Tsurugaoka-Hachiman-gu, the biggest shrine in Kamakura. It was built utilizing the method of perspective. The road becomes narrower if going further. So, this road looks longer than it actually is.

This is a device of Yoritomo Minamoto, the first samurai shogun who made this street.
