The wood carving bear

Bears live with people in many areas in the world. They live in North America, South America, Eurasia and even in the North Pole. Bears and people have gradually come to live together in various forms because bears have been around from old days. That is Teddy bear, Paddington bear or “the bear met the other day” in the old folk song.

In Japan wooden bears are on the alcoves of the drawing rooms as well as there are stuffed bears in the children’s room. Bears catch and eat the nutritious salmon going up the autumn river in Hokkaido, the north island of Japan, for asleep in winter time.

The wood carving bear in the moment of catching the salmon is a constant article of the Japanese ornament.
